Monika Watkins is a brand strategist, documentary filmmaker, and creative director who architects narrative frameworks and visual identities for mission-driven organizations. She recently directed Footsteps to Freedom: Harriet Tubman's Living Legacy for the National Parks Service and earned her master's degree in Advertising & Marketing from Southern Methodist University.
With over 15 years of experience, Monika has documented extraordinary people and transformative moments across the globe—from historic legacies to emerging voices at HBCUs, from cultural movements to individual triumphs. Her work weaves cultural equity, authentic storytelling, and strategic brand development into narratives that build community, inspire action, and create lasting impact.
Monika finds tremendous joy in capturing stories that resonate across generations and cultures—stories designed not just to be seen, but to be shared, remembered, and felt for years to come.
"As a documentarian, I happily place my fate and faith in reality. After all, the knowledge of the real world is exactly what we need to better understand and therefore possibly to love one another. It's my way of making the world a better place." Albert Maysles
